Just refurbed the standard brake calipers, added braided lines, and put some new standard disks on. Looking for recomendations for some sporty pads.

Performance Friction (listed under 924S, IIRC), Carbone Lorraine, some Pagid. I like Mintex but theyre made to order and don't forget Ferrodo DS2500s too.

EBC are shite and should be avoided at all costs.

Fully agree with the above advice! Performance Friction (PFC), posh Pagid's (blues and yellows, but expensive) and Ferodo DS2500 (3000 if you're hitting the track) are the best around. I've not used the Carbone Lorrainne's but I hear good things about them.

In my personal experience EBC are utter crap.

The difficulty is in getting pads for the sliding calipers - there's much less choice AFAIK (or there certainly was when I had a 924S)

PFC pads are great but do produce a lot of corrosive dust. I didn't know they did the right pattern.

If it's for road use, I'd go with standard Textar pads (from frazerpart or Berlyn). They are plenty good enough.

If you're looking for something 'sporty' with reasonable stopping power from cold and they're available in the pad shape/size I'd go for Mintex M1144, they're a step up from a road pad but not so fierce as the M1155's for track usage.

I supply race/trackday brake parts for a living, and got to agree if your looking for a more aggressive pad for road use then Mintex M1144/55 are a great pad for the money, Pagid are my most popular brand for lots of reasons but if course cost is the big factor. If I can help them ping me a message

I guess you've had a few bad experiences with EBC ?

Have yellow stuffs fitted to my golf track car and they are great (once warmed up) ok for the road as well

Also recently taken a944S2 around Goodwood circuit fitted with the same and they performed well once they had heat in them....

But don't know what colour you guys have tried ?

You couldn't give me EBC pads.

With regards to Mintex, I should add that some people do have them on the shelf, but at the keener end of the price spectrum, firms like Camskill will take your money and then tell you that youll have to wait...

We ran EBC Orange race pads in a 66 Mustang and they never made it through the 20 mins of qualifiying !!!! lots sadly have had bad experiences with EBC but everyone is different on brakes.

Dont you just love Camskill !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Had EBC green, red and yellows. Greens were an OK road pad, but the Reds and Yellows were crap as a track pad compared with Ferodo or even some cheap-ish Wilwood pads I've run in the past. They don't bed in well as they're very hard and they over heat too easily. Plus they don't have that initial bite you get from good high friction coefficient pads.
