Hi all,

I've just been reading up about the Weltmeister 200lbs front springs and wondered if anyone could give me a few pointers? (please excuse me as I'm a beginner!)

I have an '87 924S and am looking to update/upgrade the suspension mainly for road use (trips to the continent etc.) I definitely don't want the ride to be too firm as I drive around London's pot-hole ridden streets. So far, I've bought an (as yet-unfitted) set of Bilstein B6 dampers and am contemplating replacing the old front springs at the same time as they look to have seen better days and I'd quite like to drop the ride height a touch...the only concern about the Weltmeisters is that it'd actually make the car understeer even more unless I increase the rear torsion bar diameter? I understand that the geometry will need doing along with the re-indexing of the torsion bars to drop the rear, but getting the torsion bars completely replaced sounds rather expensive!

From what I have read on here and pretty much everywhere else, it seems that big improvements can also be found by upgrading the arbs (mine currently has 21.5 up front and none at the back). This is definitely something that I'd be keen to do, but wondered if I used the stiffer front springs without increasing the rear torsion bar diameter, could I then choose an arb front/back ratio that would counteract the potential increase in understeer to make it a bit more neutral?

I may be overthinking this a little too much as in reality, it's not often that the absolute limits of the cars handling are reached on the road, but any pointers would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers,

Jonny
