I had to give up as my patience is not high.
Switch on Utube and some yanks drawls away about all lou minum and what is wrong with it and why he is cleaning it yarghhh enough!

How do you guys clean up aluminium parts please?
Is there an oven cleaner thats good?
I heard that there is a concrete cleaner that works.
Baked beans is another trick as is rhubarb juice.
Do soda crystals work?
I am well aware I can give it to a specialist with a sonic tank who will charge me ££££££££££ but that is not my route.

Vapour/Aqua blasting. Leaves a nice shiny finish versus sand/media blasting which is more aggressive and leaves matt finish which is easily contaminated with dirt and oily finger prints.

All the blasting options are fine if the parts are dismantled, not so good if the car is in one bit

I used Alubrite to clean up a 106 Rallye TU block for a coffee table and it worked a treat: http://www.raceglaze.co.uk/car-care-ext ... e-cleaner/

I've heard brick acid works well but I've not tried it personally... Acid is definitely the best way to chemically clean aluminium in my experience.
