Last weekend my wipers gave up. First the slow speed, intermittent and park gave up the ghost leaving me with only fast speed. I was on my way to the Winter Classic rally, whose evening section was up on Salisbury Plain - and it was a filthy evening, and then fast speed gave up so I was left with having to reach out to keep a small patch clear with a rag (which I'm convinced cost us a top three finish). I suspected a faulty relay, but having only just had a chance to look at the issue, I find that the problem was that the battery had moved so that it was preventing the n/s wiper linkage from moving (square dash, remember) ! When the battery is properly located , the linkage just nudges it, so clearly a slightly shorter battery is needed (just a quarter of an inch will be enough), but I'm surprised that there doesn't seem to be anything to hold the battery in place other than the lip at the bottom - should there be a clamp anywhere ? |

Just one clamp as standard. You could either drill and tap a couple of holes to run a strap or else relocate it to the boot. |
