Post subject: | Buying an early 944 - help needed |
Hello All, I have owned a few 944s in my time, all were turbo charged. I am now out priced in the Porsche market - and am looking at the lower end of the market for Porsche ownership. I have found a chap who is selling his small collection of cars. One that particularly caught my eye was a 1984 (no Pas) car, finished in white. It has no sunroof and is very solid with little or no rust. Its quite original, but has sat in a barn for a few years. I will be placing a deposit tomorrow. He has another last of the square dash cars in black with new Porsche Sills fitted and sprayed ready to go - this had sunroof, so not as desireable, but a good price. PM me if keen..... Also a F reg 944S in the process of engine swap (red car with stripped interior), new sills fitted - TIPEC sticker in window. So, what would the original specification for the car have been? It comes with a choice of wheels - teledials (probably 15") Cookie cutters 15" and 17" cayman wheels (yuck). Interior is stripped brown cloth, which isnt bad. Any ideas where cheap spares can be purchased? It probably needs seats soon as the current ones are torn. I want to make ths into my daily hack which doubles up as a fast road car. If anyone has pictures of early car (pref in white) that could keep me motivated, that would be great ! Thanks |

From memory the seller told me that it was the last of the square dash cars. So i guess its on a B plate or early C (1985)? Its black and very nice interior - Porsche script. |

Cars built prior to 31/12/85 might start to go up in value now as they're now eligible for road rallies. That of course would include very early oval dash cars. |

Deposit now placed. Can anyone on here tell me extra information from the chassis number? Turns out that the red S model car has a replacement engine to go in. This is a 3.0 S2 lump. Once ported and polished, should make 230bhp. Which one to buy now? |

Hey Chas. Good to hear from you! Have you still got the RST? The black car is located near Tidworth Salisbury. If you fancy a look, let me know and i will arrange it with the owner. You could always stop at mine for a cup of tea and we could go over together? Thanks R |
