Hi Folks - OK - side lights on - bonnet light on - close bonnet slowly, very closed - light goes off! Where is that little trigger switch!!?? Anybody know? Just an enquirer... Dave CT |

From memory I don't think there is a physical switch but its a small mercury switch within the bulb housing that switches it on/off. Simple bit of engineering! |

This, and the contacts fur up... it's a beautiful bit of engineering, like the fact the door windows work with the doors open. ![]() You don't get that kind of simple genius on a modern one! |

Mercury?!! You sure? I have my doubts about even Porsche using this lethal substance in car manufacturing! That means that every 944 in an accident or scrapped is a toxic health hazard? Where's Clarkson?? Dave CT |

Also used for the boot light in Jaguar 420s and presumably S-types. Rarely worked for long. |
