I don't recall ever seeing this illuminated, where in the instrument cluster is it ?

Usually its just below the absolute minimum mark ...on my 928 its an illuminated red bit where i said...it gives me 18 miles approximately...

As Brett states the light is just below the minimum mark although on my car (944T) the colour is more an orange than red. IIRC according to the handbook the reserve has a capacity of around 8 litres, I've had well over 20 miles in my car.

You've clearly never ran low on petrol! To be fair I had my car about 6 months before I first seen the light come on. As stated it is at the bottom of the fuel gauge, mine lights up orangey yellow colour and as pointed out you have about 8 litres of fuel at that point. I once got 50 miles after the light came on, admittedly driving very slow whilst looking for an open gas station at silly o'clock at night in a dual carriageway in the middle of nowhere! I probably pushed my luck there but don't think twice about doing 20/30 miles after the light has come on.

Take a spare gallon then go and find the light...!

I'd never let it go that low.

In theory you can do over 60 miles on 8 litres, I know I have done over 40 miles numerous times before so there's no stress letting the light come on.

I have two 924's

No1. the light comes on at the correct time but the gauge isn't trustworthy

No.2 The gauge works correctly but the light never comes on

and I often run on fumes

Probably never have much more than £25-30 in the tank and my usual play uses about £20 so It's always dipping into the last 1/4 on the gauge. Years ago a truck ran into the back of a car locally on the A1 and a family burned to death, I've rarely run a full tank on any car since.
