| Post subject: | Momo steering wheel and boss |
I've just bought a momo steering wheel to try out and it's come with a boss already attached (Porsche according to the seller) Can anyone tell me if this is suitable for my 944 S2, there's two wires but I know I've only got one on the original wheel and have read various stories about dash fires caused by using the wrong one so would like to be sure to use the correct one!

should be fine. all the horn button does is connect the metal hub of the steering wheel to the brass contact ring on the back of the hub. If you look at the switch assembly on the column you will see the phospor bronze contact that rubs on the brass contact ring as the wheel rotates. If you are a bit nervous put the steering wheel on with out the switch, turn on the ignition and touch those two contacts together and you should get a nice toot! |

This may be a Momo boss and theyre model specific. If itd been a cheaper type which used the cars existing horn contact ring then you could have simply swapped your existing part over. Because this has been made to suit either VW/Audi/924 & 944 series one cars OR 944 series two cars, 964s & 968s, you need to be sure that it is the correct part before you fit it. Google the part number and take it from there. |

Well I've not managed to find a part number yet as I couldn't get the boss off the wheel due to the bolts being stripped. I did take the original wheel off though and noticed the little tab on the back of the boss is much smaller than the one on the original wheel so it may be the wrong one. While I had the wheel off I removed the instrument panel, cleaned off all the old reflective material and replaced it with foil then fitted some LEDs. The difference is amazing! |

Google the part number and take it from there. Well I got some time to remove the threaded bolts today and it's a Momo boss with 6016 stamped on the inside. From what I can find I need the ML7004. Does anyone know how I can find out what the 6016 is for? Thanks. |

Only one I can find is a 6106, which is a Mitsubishi fitment. I know that probably doesn't help much!
