I was told that they were Boxster but I can't find any pictures of a boxster with them on. Anyone recognise what they are from? They have the correct width and offset as spec by Porsche and are 16"

As to the wheel size discussion in another thread I find that my car on 205/55-16 and 225/50-16 has a much greater tendency to tramline than my brothers 924S on the 15" wheels. Nothing scarry but certainly more noticeable. I also drove a car on 17" rims whilst looking and it was dreadful

They're older Boxster (with an 's' by the way) ones, my neighbour has them on his 2.7 Boxster.

And the side repeater on the picture is off a VW Golf - if ever you need one.

Theyre the poverty spec wheels off the first Boxster. 6" & 7". Good for a 924S but unsuitable (and illegal) for a 944.

Ang uuuuugleeeeeeee.

I bought a set for the tyres and virtually gave the awful rims away.

Out of interest why are they illegal?

Id like to know why as well... We have them on "Faye" and no tramlining or tyre wear problems.. She even passed the NCT last week

Yes I do, they are the wheels on my brothers 944.....   .

Out of curiosity, if I twisted my brothes arm to let me have them, would they fit directly onto my 924S, oe would I need spacers?

Kelvin.

I am curious about the illegal bit too

I can think of better wheels for a 944, but the illegal bit is news to me

Illegal because the 6" front rims are narrower than any part that Porsche fitted. You can. of course, fit two rear 7" pairs, and Ive seen a few mismatched sets like this being sold by Simon Butterworth. Unfortunately, you could probably buy two matched sets with centres for less than buttercup charges.

The same applies to series two 944s which have Carrera 2/4 wheels fitted. The rears are similar in size to S2 wheels, but the fronts are 1" narrower 6"s...

Theyd fit pretty well onto a 924S, presuming that yu have a correct mixture of 6"s & 7"s. Off the top of my head the front (6") offset is 50mm and the rears (7") 40mm. I bought a set for the crested centres and the tyres, but the wheels look quite smart on my 924S.

Is it actually illegal to fit narrower rims? What did Porsche offer size-wise for "winter" rims on the 944?

I'm not advocating fitting them as they're bloody ugly, but I don't necessarily believe it would be illegal to do so.
