I have the standard 6x4 speakers in the front of my 1989 944 2.7 and would like to replace them with my extremely expensive (at the time) 5 1/4" and 1" component speakers I bought for my BMW E36 in 2004. They are poly kevlar speakers and sound amazing when combined with my Genesis amp. I would also like to position my Genesis 2ch amp and monoblock amp for the front components and a sub box. I am requiring advice on 1st, whether the speakers will fit with a home made mounting block and 2nd, where to mount the amps. Any advice or photos you guys have of your installs would help enormously. Thanks |

With a home made pod they will fit, are they very deep? depending on where you decide to mount them you might have a slight fouling issue with the window motor. |

They are 65mm or 2.5" deep. I was hoping to fit them with a piece of mdf, into the 6x4 position. If this isn't possible then i will have to look at the 10 speaker door mounts. I have absolutely no idea how many of these are about and how much they might cost. |

Remove one of the speakers and check you have enough depth - you can't come much out from the door cause the grills touch the lower dash ![]() |

Wondered whether anyone has done an install with similar sized speakers. Won't have much time this side of the weekend to look at it so was hoping to get the parts together. |

Not helping much with them being like rocking horse excrement or expensive but I won't shoot the messenger. ![]() |

I have FLi Components in the door boxes of my 968, basically the same as the vibe ones. still looking for a pair of broken 968 coupé tweeters to modify for the little FLi tweeters, as i bought new ones before i got the components. for door boxes check out 944 reanimation in the USA they have quite a lot of 944/968 parts |

That looks amazing. It's a bit modded for my liking though, I'm going for the standard factory look as much as I can. |

I intend to have the sub box removable so it looks standard, hence having the speakers in a factory spec housing. |
