I'm sure many of you will know this, but... was driving home tonight in pretty grotty weather, and discovered that my wipers have THREE speeds - slow, medium, and frenzied. I don't remember reading about this in the owner's manual. It's a bit of a novelty, as all the other cars I've driven only have two speeds.

What other clever things have others discovered about their rides?

If you forget about the time and leave the stereo on whilst polishing it -

1, The battery goes flat

2, you can't get in the boot to put it on charge

3, you have to clamber all over your newly cleaned interior

4, 10 mins with the charger is not enough (it just flattens it again)

5, 20 mins with the charger is not enough (it just flattens it yet again)

6, Go back in to watch an old Wheeler Dealer (on a 914)

7, And 2 hours after you intended to go out for a spin your ready

8, You are now full of biscuits and Tea

9, Wife and child not happy how Sunday is going !

I know its also a pain but you could connect to the big battery wire on the starter to avoid clambering over a nice interior.

When polishing the interior try to avoid pressing the panic lock button below the stereo while listening to music at high volume, then getting out and shutting the door only to realise that your doors are locked with the only key in the ignition and you stereo is virtually flat out.
You may be lucky and have your brother break into it the next day with a coat hanger after a persistant 40 mins. Ohh... and the music only lasts till about 1am in the morning.....

Ah his might be like mine, poor maintainance and lack of use has rendered my key access siezed up so the push button is the only way in.
Note, I must fix it.

It wouldn't help. On an S2, the keyhole below the spoiler engages a micro-switch which runs the electric motor to open the boot. There's no mechanical linkage between the key and the latches and hence a dead battery = no boot opening. There IS a positive terminal under the bonnet which allows you to connect a battery and avoid having to clamber over the interior (assuming you have a spare 12v battery handy).

Always have a jump pack in the garage for this kind of situation, best £50 I ever spent.

The Cab may be different, but I used the key to open the boot until I picked up the remote switch on Ebay, no electrical assistance at all.
