My front seats are worn out, not the leather, just the insides and 'suspension' on the bases (the backs are fine). My interior is Classic Grey in colour, so quite rare to find. Douglas Valley have a black S2 with the half leather Porsche Script interior in their yard. They want £500 for the interior. They won't sell me the seats alone, I have to have the front seats, back seats, door cards, and carpets. They've called me back now and said £400 as the driver's seat bolster needs a bit of work doing to it.

He's also suggested a 'mint' beige interior (it looks good on the photos) out of a 2.7 Lux, with red piping, but I pointed out that I would have to have the dashboard and everything, and that I would want all that for £500. They said £750, but anyway, Cobalt Blue with beige and red piping - doesn't really work!

I was told that they were expensive, but I think it's the fact that they try to sell you things you don't want or need that make them expensive.

Has anybody any experience of these guys? What are they like for bartering?

Porsche-Apart have nothing suitable unless I want to pay £350 for a set of black 968 seats.

We get 10% as TIPEC members but they'll want a photocopy/fax of your card to prove membership. That'll be a good saving on that lot.

The original insides are still available from Porsche for £91 inc vat (base only), but only passenger ones are available. To have the job done at Cheshire Interiors in Knutsford - change interior base sponge and keep existing leather - is max £150 including new springs. So £330 max, all done.

Every time I have bought something from Douglas Valley they describe it as very good or mint over the phone but when it turns up it's tat Be very sure to get a detailed description before parting with cash.

On the other hand Simon Butterworth at http://www.porsch-apart.co.uk is very honest in their descriptions and I find them a little cheaper too

Everything I've heard about Douglas Valley so far is less than positive. Was thinking about trying to get a replacement drivers seat from them but if they only sell a complete interior then there's hardly any point. Will have to give porsche apart a go.

DVB seem to be caught in a timewarp: either that or they think that it is still 1993. Simon Butterworth isnt a deal better, but whilst he has always been over-priced hes an alright bloke and his stuff is cleaner (and more honestly described)

If you arent going to have the original parts repaired (which Id suggest that you do, btw) then Id give Paul a try at PHSportscars in Derby. Paul certainly isnt as interested as he used to be and the firm is more of a specialist now, as opposed to a dismantler, but he still has some nice stuff and his prices are a little more realistic.

I spoke to Porsche-Apart, and they would want about £350 for a good pair of front seats. They have a pair of 968 ones on Ebay at the moment, and they're shooting up in price with about a week to go, have a look at item number 350113039304, and they have a set of leather ones, item number 350112326022. However both of these would have to be stripped and the insides put into mine. A waste of a good pair of seats and uneconomical to do.

I could nip up to Douglas Valley for a look and a barter as they're only 25 - 30 miles away, but then again I'd be stuck with a load of stuff that I don't want or need.

I think my wife is treating me to brand new inside foam parts and springs from Porsche, the whole job will cost less than £330 and I will have brand new insides to the seats, which is very important as I have been getting a bad back from my knackered ones. The outside will still have the worn out look, but if you use the words 'classic' and 'character' then it's more acceptable.

I will explain it to her as we walk around the Trafford Centre this evening - my idea wouldn't you know - but good tactics!

I do plan on getting the originals repaired but if one were to be available in better condition for a decent price than I'd go for it. I have a plan for the old seat you see.

everything i've bought from PH has been expensive, found club autosport more reasonable

Chaps, I'll be looking to sell mine shortly. It's Linen leather, which will probably suit your car. Fronts are the optional electric sports seats and in pretty good nick - small tear on drivers rhs arm bolster, but no sagging or similar, passenger side is excellent and rear seats are nigh-on perfect! Any takers?

Hi David, yes they are the perforated sort, but unfortunately not heated. I will try to get a pic on here but it wont be until Sunday I'm afraid.

The Cheshire region are going to Douglas Valley on the 22nd November.

I agree they are overpriced on alot of stuff but when we've been in a group we sometimes manage the wear them down a bit and get a reasonable price. The other plus is you get to see the parts before you buy them.

Last time we went I can away with a glove box door and pocket full of screws, covers, plastic bits etc and it was only a tenner. Someone else bought a dash and a lot interior panels/carpet for £90 which again I thought was reasonable. However someone else was fleesed for a 911 door and another member put an 911 engine cover back because of the price.
