Hi Everyone, :D

I have a 10 month old baby and really want to get a child seat in the back of my 944. I have been searching various forums and threads trying to find out what my options are.

The car is currently fitted with lap and shoulder belts in the rear and i will be double checking with a local seatbelt installer that everything is safe if I manage to find a seat actually fits!

I phoned a porsche dealer but they said none of the seats they currently sell would work and we're pretty unhelpful.

Anyway I was just wondering if anyone knew of any car seats that are currently available that will fit?

Many thanks

Go down to Halfrauds, I believe they have trained child seat fitters on hand to advise you.

Yes, have tried the usual options, no joy.

Thought there might be someone on here who found a solution?

Hi,

Your biggest problem is that at 10 months, I think you need a rear facing seat, so I can't guarantee this will work for you, but this is what I did for a front facing one, which should give you some hope for the future.

Any chance you could sort the photos on your guide please?

Issue is not with the posting as the images were visible when they were uploaded. I'll ask the site administrator if there is some sort of time limit before they're removed.

Cheers,
Bryan

There's a few random images missing on most forums I visit. Kens 1st few photos are missing on his rebuild thread too.

Yes, Jim has sent me the pictures back, but I haven't got round to re-uploading them yet. If anyone wants them, send me a pm and I'll email them direct.

I've just taken my grandson home in my car in a child seat, think it was from mothercare...needs the lap/shoulder type belt which my car doesn't have in the back so we put him in the front facing back. Childseat seemed very secure suspended slightly off the front seat, there's a level device to ensure that the seat is held at it's correct angle. I'm not sure what the max weight is though, at 10 months babies can be pretty heavy so check that any chair is suitable and will last as they get bigger, I suspect that at 10 months you may be close to the up-sizing time.

Weight isn't the issue from stage 1 to stage 2 seats. The important thing is making sure their neck is supported by the seat, if it's not then go to forward facing, if their neck is supported then keep them in stage 1 as long as possible.

Thanks for the photos. Mrs has said if the seatbelt isn't part of the structure of the car then the kids aren't safe. Really can't win. Great idea btw.

Yes, you have be happy in your own mind that your kids are safe. I was happy with my setup as the belts kept the seat in place and the harness kept the child in the seat. As my car is a convertible, I worry more about things falling from above - I once had a branch fall from a tree onto my roof, but thankfully it was a different car.

Anyway, I hope you manage to find something. Be great if you could update the forum if you do.

Bryan

I've found a car it's an early ish car so needs a plate in the boot from a newer car to be welded in. but with that welded in place will mean that 3 point belts will fit. I believe I also have to source a later rear seat so the belts fit through it but getting there.
