the drivers door handle on my Lux is playing up....the key needs to be in exactly the right position to operate the lock and the "trigger" needs to be pulled hard against the outer handle to release the door....does it just sound like adjustment needed, or a little bit of welding built up on part of the lock, or just a new lock.......would I be able to get a new barrel to suit my existing key (to avoid having several keys)?....Adrian

N ot quite the same symptoms but similar; the key was particularly stiff to turn, but a squirt of WD40 worked wonders !

You can strip the barrel and using the existing pins can rekey a second hand lock to suit your existing keys.

Kits available as this one: http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=261847230015&globalID=EBAY-GB

Although if the pins are fine in your barrel, just transfer it to the new lock :) IIRC Clarkes Garage has an item on this.

Good luck

To unlock the drivers door on mine I need the key to be exactly in the right position or it wont turn. I pulled the barrel apart and cleaned the pins which helped a little bit but I guess 33 years of wear on the pins is showing itself. Theres a link bar which can be adjusted which will help in terms of how hard you have to pull the trigger and once you have the door card and membrane off so you can see everything it should make sense.

Good luck

You may be able to sort the problem without stripping the door cards off, to remove the door handle see: http://www.clarks-garage.com/shop-manual/body-12.htm

Good luck :)
