Has anyone had a 944 cylinder block’s, cylinders re-honed and refinish (Sunnen process with AN30 compound) in the North East?
I have just stripped my 87 Turbo motor to refresh, gaskets, bigends and main bearingsetc.
Was hoping not to have to touch the cylinder bores/piston rings.
However one of the cylinder bores is scored, looking for options .
1. Have cylinder re honed and re-finished
2. Good second hand block – already contacted someone on forum.
If this was a traditional iron block I would not hesitate to hone the scoring out and fit new rings, as the scoring is quite fine.
Looking for peoples experience with machine shops in the North East.
