Are there not differences between 16v 8v and turbo? |

I asked if this was a bargain a while ago on the forum. It is circoli and doubt the original rrp. That said it has a metal impeller, it is just a case of how good a casting and how good is the bearing. I am tempted at this price to have it delivered and check it over myself. |

I have one its made by URO, not to bad quality but as it has a metal impellor you can get them rebuilt by EP services for the same money again. even if it lasts two years still a bargain |

The RRP is actually the Porsche price and I assume they use it as a reference. As this is after-market you get what you pay for. |

That is complete rubbish, the pump is probably made for Porsche by Lemforder or similar. So if you can source the Lemforder one direct without the Porsche tax it'll be that same pump. The bearing will be standard SKF or similar & the seal will be an industry standard one. Am example when I had the boat it had two Volvo Penta 131 engines which is the Volvo 240 engine. Pump from Volvo was £490 (this is 15+ years ago) the pump from an after market was £250. The car pump was £25 from a factors for a genuine Lemforder pump. An hour doing some mods & I fitted the car pumps which worked perfectly. Same product different product tax. The cam belts were similar levels of pricing. I spoke to Zimms a few years ago whilst in Texas, they were rebuilding pumps with zero returns rate. But they did find if there was the slightest damage to the housing it caused issues. |

Chris that is a 3L pump that is why. The Turbo is the same IIRC as the 8V |

For almost three years now I have been a truck parts factor, and I am telling you Jim that you get what you pay for. There's nothing wrong with after-market stuff, we sell it all day long, but you have to be aware of what's out there. The cheap Chinese copy stuff, the ones made in Turkey, a lot made in Latvia, some made in Italy, and other parts of Europe. Then there are the companies that do nothing but refurb water pumps - and they do a good job. If you have a good factor they won't sell the cheap stuff because they value their reputation. The RRP in the advertisement is the same as the Porsche price - I know because I called and asked when purchasing my pump. It's a way of making the purchaser think that they are making big savings. For the record I bought mine from Euro Car Parts and paid an awful lot less than the internet advertised price for the Geba OE quality pump., perk of the job I suppose. On another note - batteries.... ignore the sticker on the side of the battery when looking for a new one. I have been to the battery warehouse in Manchester. All the batteries are stacked floor to ceiling, and they are all black. At the end of each aisle are reels and reels of brand stickers. The price of the battery depends on the provider you have purchased from, and this in turn determines which brand sticker is stuck on the side of it. So if you're local to here Oldham Batteries / Platinum Batteries / Hella and more....... all the same one with a different sticker on. Course, if you want to tell me it's all wrong ...... |

Pump looks fine but time will tell, comes with gaskets, o-ring, elbow and setscrews for elbow. It looks like a new casting not a refurb. It's on the spares shelf. |

I got one. But it's not going to fit mine. Told them it was wrong but they sent it anyway. Pump seems okay without a side to side comparison. |

I bought this for my S2. It's a quality part, which was identical to OEM. |

Has anyone got official parts catalogue access? I want to consider buying a Circoli pump for my Turbo, as I have a rebuild in my imminent future and need to keep the costs down. Unfortunately the ebay seller is struggling to confirm the part for my car (even with me telling them the registration, year and model) although they are confident they can source one if I can quote the Porsche part code. ================= Thank you for your email. I am afraid it does seem there are a few parts listed for your vehicle. I am afraid we will need you to obtain the original part number so we can locate the correct part for you. ================= Thanks, |
