Car has been sat for a couple of weeks outside waiting for me to get to it. Finally got the time this morning to sort a few things before it goes in to Unit 11 on monday to get waterpump, belts and seals done. So I have to get the car running again ASAP.
Its a 944 2.5 na 1986
The car started first turn of key this morning (as it has done) and i drove it up onto the ramps and turned it off. Since then i have done a few jobs, would any of this affected the car starting 1. Removed power steering pump belt 2. Replaced the rubber section from AFM to throttle body, all resecured. 3. Replaced a section of vacuum line that goes from throttle body to the 2 actuators on fuel rail, it had come into contact with the head and melted through, however it started this morning in that condition (i didnt notice the melted line until i started working on the car). All vacuum lines in that area looked to be secure. 4. Replaced expansion tank, had to remove top of airbox to do this, all back in place and connected up. 5. Removed the forward most spark plug to check it. Replaced and HT lead reattached.
Since the car decided not to start i have also replaced the DME relay. Still no joy. The battery is fine (for now), the engine turns over as it should, it just wont fire. The first time i tried to start it after putting it on the ramps it tried to catch but died after a second. The only other thing is i can smell a faint smell of fuel after turning it over, but csnt see any obvious leaks.
Where is the fuel filter on these, and is it easy to inspect?
All help and suggestions welcome. Myself and the car are in Warrington so if any nearby member wants to drop by andlend a hand I will be here allday tomorrow.
Thanks
