Over the years the door cards have lost some of their rigidity. They have had water damage and no doubt been on and off the car over the years. I'm now at the point were they are in a very poor state. I've looked around for replacements and I'd even spent a little time to see if I could find a manufacturer that may re-press new cards. The cost was starting to look very expensive so looked for an alternative solution.

Once I'd dried the cards out of any remaining water damage, I then set about Fiber glassing the cards. I've uploaded some pictures so you can see a)How easy it is, and b)the end result. Overall I'm pleased with the fix. The cards are solid and sit far better than they had been doing on the car. All in all a great little fix!

I found fibre glassing door cards to be quite therapeutic, loving the on point Orla Kiely back drop :D

I would agree with the therapeutic nature of the job, that is until you feel the resin going off and realising you've still got quite a section to paste....

PS. Thanks for the Orla reference...
