A couple of weeks ago my gearbox let go at Brands Hatch.
The pinion detonated which left a crack through the case.
https://flic.kr/p/uFCLKdIt turns out the box was an early iteration and that coupled with an S2 engine it was only a matter of time before something let go.
In any case I have an S2 box now and on initial inspection the aftermarket LSD that was in the early box appears to be OK. It seems to be just the diff ring that was damaged.
I understand in the S2 box the pinion and diff ring have been uprated (along with other internal parts).
Is it therefor relatively straight forward to fit the diff ring on to the existing LSD from the early box and swap in to the S2 box?
Are there likely to be any spacing issues/shims required?
Any pointers, advice, things to look out for would be much appreciated!
