Hello all,
I am new to the club/forum and also to Porsche, this being my first so fingers crossed I haven't bought a lemon!

The car seems to be pretty solid but with some cosmetic and and minor rust issues (one sill starting to go), and a small dent in the rear. Mechanically good with very extensive history all the way back to first purchase, last owner had it for 20yrs. The car is completely original apart from stereo and alarm. So I am hoping this is going to be a rolling project. Not planning much work to start with, just want to enjoy owning and driving it this summer, and learning from other club members before I get stuck in.

Here is a couple of pics

The caption to the wheel says it's a cookie cutter. It's not - it's a teledial.

Oops, my first blunder. Thanks for the correction.

Hi Prophead, seems like you've done the same as me.

I've just bought a 944 and I'm going to run it this summer and then try and improve areas of it.

Good luck

Hi Des911, great - all the best with it. Where are you located?

I'll lookout for your posts.

I think many of us have done exactly this. No doubt like me, you loved the car when you were younger and thought blow it, I'm going to buy one and do it up. Trouble for me was, I did that and then realised I was hopeless. Next port of call was the TIPEC forum and membership. This place is brilliant. The knowledge some of this crowd has is literally unbelievable. I've also managed to find hard to locate parts etc.through this. Over the years of ownership I'm pleased to say I've now tackled some great jobs. Nothing better and more satisfying than doing a tricky job and fixing whatever it was you are working on. Each time I do something I just think I'm making the car better than it was earlier in the day.

Just remember, no question is a daft one we all can learn and some can contribute as well!

I agree. I bought mine on a 'blow it' impulse and despite having had a few issues with the car have not regretted it. They are fun cars and relatively simple to do minor jobs on yourself.

This forum has been really useful too. I do try to pass on my gained knowledge.

Welcome

Looks like an interesting starting point! Hopefully you'll end up saving another one from the scrap heap. You will get plenty of guidance from the people here. Also, make sure you hook up with your local branch of the club and get along to meetings.

Absolutely, when i was in my early teens these were one of the few cars that caught my attention (i was more interested in motorbikes back then). My basic skills with vehicles are not too bad, worked on and built a couple of bikes back in the day, and have just finished modifying and tweaking my daily commuter hack. Its the specific Porsche knowledge i am lacking.

Was originally planning a semi track car, but this particular car is so original and well documented that it seems a same to hack it up, so am thinking to just restore it original. Not saying it wont see a track or too though
