Sprayed a couple of areas yesterday and no suprise the colour didn't quite exactly match the older paint. I'll have to paint wholes panels at a time, which I have no problem with. Only that the paint I got made up at halfords is not as deep as the original paint. Does anyone know where to get a decent colour from?

Take your car or a part of your car to your local bodyshop paint suppliers and have them match a colour for you and put it in a can,we have about 10 different shades of guards red that we can mix at work, my car is a 1986 model yet the best match we found was from 1983 model year and as you have stated the paintwork is quite old and faded a bit now and you will never get a good match painting edge to edge you generally have to blend into an adjoining panel to get the best results.

Paints4U Good match, I have had Guards and Ocean Blue from them

But Guards is awkward as there are many shades so you may have to experiment with different colour primer to get a match

Not that fussed about matching the old paint as I'll eventually do every panel. More that I want the next can of paint to match the proceeding one.
