Post subject: | Heater Always Hot - Parts needed? |
The heater in my 86 is always hot. Upon research I think this is a plastic clip in the passenger side (RHD) footwell. I'm not sure which parts I need to order and where I can get them from. Clark's garage says 944.572.314.00 and 944.572.217.00, but also says "On later model 944s, there are two damper linkages instead of one ". I'm not sure what classes as a later model 944 in this instance. This is my first foray into sourcing Porsche parts and I'm a little confused so any help is appreciated. |

Its a mistake to say that it will always be the clip. Its frequently the clip, but it can be caused by the complicated HVAC controller or the heater valve which seizes (and then usually dumps coolant on the clutch after a while). |

In the upper bulkhead of my 944 just next to the wiper motor there's a vacuum bottle which keeps the heater valves set. If the vacuum pipe comes off mine gives full heat all the time... Just a thought! G |

Damn, I got beat to it! I would also check the vacuum hoses carefully even if they appear to be on. Check to see that the HVAC actuator in the engine bay moves as it should. |

I've just done the fix on my 86 944 by replacing the plastic clip. All sorted, great little fix. |

I had a look and the clip is broken so I've got that on order. If it still doesn't work after that then I'll work my way through the other fixes in here. |
