I've been having some starting problems, the fuel pump refusing to run. Anyway, the question I'm trying to answer in coming to a diagnosis is, If there is an issue with the DME Temp Sensor and I unplug it would that normally allow the car to start? If that were to work, confirming an issue with the sensor I'll buy a new one as they are quite cheap. If not, I'm into changing the ECU. |

It will probably still start but not run right, doubt it would cause the fuel pump to not run. The functioning of the DME temp sensor is easy enough to test if you have a mulitimeter. Would do that first before looking at ECUs. Have you looked at the DME relay? |

Thanks for the help though - as I do want to establish whether an out of range reading from the temp sensor to the DME would stop it providing power to the fuel pump. Running power direct to the fuel pump then starting and the car runs fine. The car doesn't start hot, warm or cold at the moment unless I rig up power direct to the fuel pump so I am starting to lean to it being DME related. |

What car do you have? I have a spare working DME so if its suitable then you're more than welcome to try it. A temp sensor can be bought for a few quid as its used on many other vehicles |

My only hesitation is that the exact symptoms I have now I had last week and it started working again with no intervention from me other than not touching it. Where about are you in E Sussex. The ECU I have spare is... Bosch 0 261 200 080 Porsche 944 618 124 00 Pretty certain that won't be suitable

I plug it in and the car does not start. Although it starts with the DME temp sensor unplugged it only runs for about 15 secs then seem to starve of fuel. So I am going to try replacing the sensor first before the ECU. |
