Hi - have recently bought the above in Alpine White, and love it.

On a couple of short journeys recently, the oil warning light has come on. The oil pressure according to the dial is fine, and when I stop to check the dipstick, it's half way between full and low. The next journey, the oil warning light hasn't come on.

Has anyone any thoughts (I'm no mechanic!)

Cheers, Howard

Reads like it needs 1/2 a litre to top it up. They are quite sensitive.

Which oil warning light? Pressure or level? Pressure sensors aren't the most reliable but pretty expensive.

If it is the oil level light that is a normal warning. Both of my 944s have their lights illuminated upon them getting to 1/2 way between the dipstick marks.

With that in mind I would aim to keep a 944 topped up close to the max. 944s really do not like running low on oil. The demise of my first engine in my S2 was blamed partially on that.

It's worth checking the level before start up once the oil has settled as checking the oil just after running the engine can give a false reading on the dipstick.

+1 on a small top up to solve though.

Many thanks to all (and yes, it's the oil level light). I'll do just as you all suggest.

What an amazing forum: so many helpful replies in a few hours!
