Picked my S2 up from the bodyshop late friday and apart from the fact it's hidden in the garage because it has been
raining non stop I am a very happy bunny with the standard of work done. He is of no connection to me but Dool (derek)
came recommended to me and I can see why. Kept me up to date, sent progress phots and a high standard of work
are often lacking these days. If you are anywhere near Glenrothes and you want paint doing he is with speaking with.

As the car was sitting in the garage due to the weather, I thought I'd fit the clock repair kit. Managed to snap the long
piece of trim doing so... Clock works though! Never mind, I'll start on the new gear shifter from Kyle. The brand
new Porsche nylon boot cup it snaps into (£1.72!) exploded into 3 bits........ On went the old one again, but the
shift already feels less sloppy whilst sat stationary.

Third time lucky? On with new Sebro front discs and Porsche pads which were hand delivered by Aberdeen Porsche at 6.00pm
yesterday (saturday) which was a bit bizarre!! In with the outer pad and inner is stuck fast with what I think to be plate lift.... :x

Gave up, stuck the wheel back on, shut the door and had a beer, comes in 3's etc.

Will post up some decent pics when the sun comes out and the wheels can turn again :?

Cheers
KennyP

Look forward to seeing the pictures, could you also provide the name of the bodyshop & the address please. Always good find out about local bodyshops that are recommended through word of mouth.

The white plastic cup on the bottom of the stick will break every time unless you stick it in a cup of hot water first

The long trim is 24 quid from OPC

Thanks for that Waylander. I'd put a bit of lube on but didn't think to heat it up. I'll order up another when I order the trim piece as the superglue join ain't pretty!

The bodyshop is Dools Auto Refinnishing on Whitehead Rd near police hq and Fife airport. I looked at a Jensen Interceptor that he had painted about a year ago and it was lovely and the chap who owned it put me in touch with Dool.

Here are some pics of my S2 as promised now it's stopped bloody chucking it down...

Dool did a really nice job as said and the repairs to sills and new seals have really
sharpened the way the car is looking.

Looking very nice, I do like Cup 1s. What areas did you have painted or was it a full respray?

How bad were the sills and what kind of money to repair to this high standard? Looking to do the sills and a few other little areas.

regards

Mark

The whole car was resprayed. All trims, bumpers, bonnet, tailgate etc removed. If you look at the 'what I did to my9...' thread page 102 there are some pics showing the extent of the rot on the sills and driver's wing at the bottom. All that was visible hiding the rot were a few very small bubbles that initially looked like a quick rub down, lick of paint and jobs a good 'un....

When I removed the plastic under sill trims it became very apparent that a proper job was required and there was little point in painting just the bottom half when there were various stone chips, dings and faded paint etc on the top half. So the job went from £500 ish to a lot more, but I really like the car, want to keep and use it and it has still cost less including purchase price than a new shopping trolley would and shouldn't depreciate if I keep it nice and the mileage is still reasonable at 81k.

I have now been continuing my Dinitroling and squirting it into every box section I can get the wand into.
