I've read on Clarks garage that the standard spring rates are the same ! Can i therefore assume the lowering springs available for the 968 will fit the S2? I've already converted to Koni inserts, just want a small 1 inch approx drop ! Any suggestions please ! Does anyone know if the 968 struts were the same as the S2 ? Thanks ! |

I've exactly the same idea, got the blue springs but they are 40mm shorter free length same number of coils and wire thickness as std S2. I'm hoping that compressed length with be the expected 20 mm |

Hi Simon - I fitted the Koni sports front and back to my 1990 S2 and whilst enquiring about lowered springs, (I wanted to replace the worn originals at the same time), they informed me that they (Koni Johannesburg) had the 968 spec in stock and they were applicable to the S2. They are H&R springs and will lower the front by about 25mm - ie one inch in old money. Don't forget to replace the weather shrouds and bump stops (I got mine from the USA) with originals. The difference is amazing and well worth the cost and effort... Dave CT SA |

Hi Simon - Having re-read my post, I'm not sure that I had explained correctly!? The lowered front springs for a 968 will fit an S2. Koni and H&R it seems are one of the same company. I tried to get lowered springs via Porsche down here in SA but they drew a blank on PET... Sorry for the confusion - Dave |

Still confused by this. The Standard S2 front springs, marked violet/purple have a free length of 378 mm, I have some spare old ones which measure 368 and 372. The 968 CS ones marked blue have a free length of 324 mm, seems a big discrepancy for a 20mm drop in ride height, maybe I'll just have to fit them and see. The std 968 coupe front spring marked beige have a free length of 348 mm which makes sense.(same as turbo I think) All have about the same spring rate. There is a H&R spring for S2 which lowers 1" but I have no info on rate, I've asked Paragon for info as I can't find anything on t'int. |

Obtained a very good condition 968 beam axle c/w torsion bars. Spring plate rubbers quite distorted so new ones ordered from Elephant. Torsion bars measure 26 mm and have a dab of white paint, thought they were 25.5?. Dreading the replacement but can't show up at CoG with the crappy old one. |
