So after finding unknown wiring issues and repairing them I now have working hid lights. ![]() ![]() I mounted the slim ballast to the rear of the headlight frame, in the right hand picture you can see the small additional control box is mounted on the side of the headlight bar bracket and the wiring to the other side runs under the nose panel with the rest of the wiring tucked inside the headlight pod. ![]() In the end I took power from the fuse box using a fuse tap. ![]() And the final result! Im pretty pleased with how they look so far although I have not driven with them yet due to a possible fuel leak but I can already see there is more light with these 6000k hids than my nightbreakers. |

HiDs are so last year, especially when they dazzle on comers due to being in cake tin reflectors rather than proper projector lenses. I found 5000k a better compromise over colour and brightness in my cars with projectors. Any higher than 6000k and it's too blue and lacks brightness. Hope they work for you. For the benefit of us having you coming at us, please make sure that they are realigned ![]() The way forward is LEDs http://www.gelighting.com/LightingWeb/n ... /overview/ can be bought with specific LED 7" lenses and bulbs ready to plug in......for a price. Although expensive, they will outlast halogens by many, many years and give longer tighter beam than HiDs |

Domestic LED bulbs seem to be spectacularly failing to deliver Steve. |

Looking further at LEDs, here's a PistonHeads write up I've been following. Note he recommends buying direct from China rather than via USA... £60 as opposed to £300! http://www.pistonheads.com/gAssing/topi ... Headlights Err will that enormous heatsink and cooling fan actually fit in one of our light pods!!! Cheers all Rob |
