I have crudely installed a USB charging port in my SQ dash 944. I was sick of punching my knuckles on the phone charger in the center console. This is only a rough prototype, but it has been in the car since October and still works fine. Its far less intrusive and very well hidden.

Should anyone be interested I have been thinking about putting kits together with a set of fitting instructions, what do you all think? And do tell me if its been done before!

This takes 12v and gives 5v. Several different styles are available.

'Ford' would be my choice.

Those with spoiled series two centre consoles might consider affixing these where the screw holes are, possibly on a mounting plaque. Youll get 2x or 4x USB 5v in a reasonably useful location and cover the damage where the handset was mounted.

Not at all sir! Wasn't really about making a profit, just offering kits at roughly what it costs to make them if people like the idea.

I am on the look out for centre console blanks though as my first attempt was a bit rough and id like a second go at it. If anyone has a blank or even broken switches will do nicely. Please get in touch with me.
