Post subject:  My cookie cutter have been revived.

I had wanted to tag this on to my cars owner thread. But it seems I haven't created one on here. But really i just want to show off. I've had the car 2 and 1/2 years now. The wheels have always let it down.

and a couple of time ive got various bits of kit out, fine grades of paper. Lots of autosol and many other polishes. I did achieve this but it still aint pretty.

So for my birthday I was treated to a few beer tokens, which i converted into diamond cut wheels. It only covered the cost of two, but to get the ball rolling and to stop me spending the money else where. I went for it. Thinking within 2 months Id afford the other two. I removed the fronts and got the work done. My jaw hit the floor when I picked them up. They were stunning, so good in fact I decide to fit them both on the same side of the car to give me a true impression. Its was here where I hit trouble, or maybe luck. the OSR had a very small screw in it about 1in from the side wall. If I had fitted both wheels to the front I could have been going at any speed unaware of my tyre being on the edge of a blow out or rapid deflation.

This unexpected twist forced me to replace the tyre, as luck would have it I got a part warn, same size, brand and amount of wear at a fraction of the new cost. Rather than paying to have it fitted I thought I would just get the other two wheels cut where they will remove and fit tyres in the price. No brainer so I told the other half!!

So it leaves me here.

And yes the front is still on the jack!

As temporary solution I have painted and lacquered my wheel nuts as they were very tatty. I know this wont last but they have done up to torque with out chipping so they smarten the job up for now. Another £60 ive got to spend getting new ones!

Center caps though, I can do those myself.

Gloss black seemed a little lacking though, so iv had a very tentative go at detailing the crest.

From 6ft away they look just fine, please dont get any closer :D

So now I await a sunny day to get it outside and see how well they shine!

indeed, i've had lacquered before but this time I went without

Make sure you sort any tiny chips before the lacquer blows though

I will be keeping on top of them. I did want to go with out protection, but I felt it would end up being a bind, if I missed polishing them ect. It's a tough call, but most OEMs only give fresh wheels one years cover. I suppose the other option is to go back to anodizing

You're not wrong there! I love to use it so it wont happen. Ill just have to look after them and keep an eye out of chips. Went out in the sunshine yesterday and they dont half shine, it really cheered me up!

Just one more centre cap to paint!
