Post subject:  Short shifter thoughts?

I've been looking at Only 944.com and their short shift kit/shift lever products.

I've never purchased from the states and wondered if anyone has had any dealings with them
and these products? As mine is an '89 it would appear fairly straight forwards to fit, but are
there any snags with their products on UK cars or suchlike?

All thoughts appreciated,

Cheers

Hello Kenny,
I've purchased both the short shifter and the shift lever from Only944. I'm usually wary of overseas purchases too but being in New Zealand I have little choice so I research them as thoroughly as I can. I have found Kyle at Only944 to be prompt and communicative. The pieces are very well thought out, well made and affordable. The instructions for fitting are easy to follow. He makes his products out of necessity for his own 944 and is welcome to suggests for new ideas.
I have also bought and installed his hatch pin seats, handbrake button and shift linkage arm. I'm about to receive black vinyl sports seat skins which should be clearing customs today.

I re-centered the lever after this last photo.

Good luck with your decision!

My only944 short shifter arrives this week, courtesy of my sis who is returning from the US for a couple of weeks.

Can't wait to get it fitted 8)

I have a short shifter and the new gear lever with the bearings at the side, no more slop and it feels so much more crisper, like cocking a bolt action rifle.

Thanks for all the replies there guys, much appreciated. In fact I've just bored the wife
about all the positive comments while I try to wear her down and make a purchase!

I've had one of these for just over a year, coupled with a 9xx shift lever and it improved the shift no end. But I've had some issues with the fastners working loose so just tonight I've been busy with the loctite. However I think this is probably my fault for greasing everything up when I fitted it so I would advise against this.

I have the John Mitchell Garages front gear change lever and rear race short shift kit in my race 924S. Very precise and positive gear change and well worth it. I can't imagine anything better tbh.
