 Post subject: Early 944 Automatic advice

I own a January 1985 944 2.5 lux is there any way to find out by looking if it's a 8v or 16v and also whats Bhp is it 163 ? Thanks

Unless its had an engine swap at some point it'll be an 8valve and I believe the BHP for that era was around 160.

Easy:

All pre-87 944 cars are 8v.
All 944S cars are 16v. They also have 16 Ventiler badge on the wing.
All 844S2 cars are 3.0 16v and have the turbo style front bumper
All 944 turbos are 8v.

Oh, that outside. :lol: Easy. If yours is a Jan '85, there's no way it's a 16v unless someone gave it a transplant at some time. A 16v car would be '87 onwards with oval dash, 944S on the tailgate, and usually "16 Ventiler" moulded into the wing mouldings.
