Guys,

my Cab has a slightly saggy rear suspension resulting in it being maybe 25 mm lower on the drivers side. I realise there is some adjustment at the spring plates but perhaps not enough to sort this as the side in question appears to be at the mid setting already.

I guess the real solution is to replace the torsion bars but thats a big job so just wondered what your thoughts were on fitting some coil over shocks.

What I don't want to do is make it too stiff as being a Cab it will only make it harsh and rattly.

Thanks

check that your Ali arm mounts have not fallen to bits, that will cause the ass end to drop.

but they are not cheap £175 each

If they are good then you can re-index the butt end and raise it up a bit

Still need to reindex the torsion bars with coilovers. So that doesn't solve your issue of 'being a big job'. Just get them reindexed first and go from there

Hmmm,

I think I knew that really - was just hoping!

Nothing looks like its falling apart - and it passed its MOT in this condition last week.

Perhaps a job to put off until after the summer if the bars need to come out.

You suggest re-indexing, but would it be best to replace the torsion bars after going to the trouble to get them out for re-indexing if they are sagging?

Thanks

Thanks

Thanks Waylander,

looking at my PET katalog, I think I have a different part number (its an 1991 S2) - 944 331 059 00 and 944 331 060 00 (L & R) for item 15 on the diagram below.

I'll pull them apart after the summer and take a look (unless it gets worse before then).

That's the alloy mount, the rubber one is right at the top of that image in the catalogue not in your crop of the image.

Actually you can get about an inch of adjustment out of the spring plates, I would compare their position side to side first.

Think I'll have a crack at raising it as much as possible on the spring plate and then leave it till after the summer for a proper look.

Many thanks for the advice.

To check the cars height, fill the tank or empty tank and a 10 stone mate in the boot, the car should be level,

Use a spirit level on the door sill, the big problem I had was finding some level place to check it on
