Looking to Change the leather gaiter and wondered if anyone has used one of these

http://www.type911shop.co.uk/shop/artic ... 665-002%26 .

It looks ok, but wonder if looks or feels cheap in the flesh

£250+ for an original one is a lot.

£250 + for an original sounds like a lot to me Just bought one black leather with the gearstick knob from PC Tewksbury for my 928 5 speed manual and that was £149 in vat and its basically the same thing

Try them

Parts guy is Stuart very helpful also a big fan of the 944

Cheers

I just re leathered a gear knob and refurbished it, new stitching etc. Re coloured the leather gator as well. I did it for my 944. Not a big job really. Be a hell of a lot cheaper, plus it's all original only new if that makes sense. If I was going to charge to re upholstery your old gear shift and gaitor with new leather it'd probably only be 50 quid... The amount of leather needed is tiny really. I got another one here I'm redo ing for fun just to perfect the technique...

Just for anyone reading this thread and wondering about sorting their gaiter...
I got this and fitted it on Sunday: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/390774025662? ... EBIDX%3AIT
There are quite a lot of similar products on eBay from a variety of sellers. I needed to pull the old leather part off the gearknob (and the knob off the gearlever), but it wasn't hard to fit, and it looks quite smart. Under 20 quid posted for just the leather bit is far more bearable than the sums you guys are talking about.
