Hello good front fours folk! I find the brakes on my '86 2.5 n/a lack girth. The pads and disks are only 5k old, brake fluid is fresh and the car doesn't have a hard life, mostly used for commuting. Are there any straight forward upgrades you could recommend? I am guessing it would be down to performance disks and pads as I think a set of upgrade calipers could be beyond me financially. Any comments would be gratefully received. Cheers, Tim. |

The single pots are pretty good. But they are prone to the slides seizing, cleaning & greasing them makes work much better. Bare in mind that the same brakes were used on the 930 turbo which was a tad faster than a 944. Otherwise some different pads will possibly help BUT Porsche pads are pretty hard so anything harder will require some heat to work which maybe a challenge on a road car. |

928 too. The brakes are more than adequate. If the OP thinks not then they need work, not replacing. |

Depends on the quality/brand of disc and pads regardless of age. Some discs and pads are not as desirable. I can recommend OEM Porsche discs and Mintex 1155 fronts and 1144 rear pads as fitted by EMC. My car is quicker than a stock 944 but quite a bit lighter, same set up though. Stops really well on road or track. |

Mine has new standard pattern Pagid discs/pads front and Pagid pads Porsche discs rear, new hoses and fresh DoT4 and the braking is excellent for a 30 year old car. |

I fitted 986 brembo 4 pots to the front of mine. Never looked back. |

A certain 944 specialist recommends this and wonders why people pay the cash they do for 944 brake setups with the exception of he M030 and Big Black brakes (the latter which are a little overkill for a 944 in all honesty!). |

I would be interested in knowing how I can fit 986 Brembos to my turbo. Whilst the stock brakes work well for me, they do look pants through the holes of my Fuchs!! Assume an adapter will be needed? Of to google the t'internet! |

You need the 2 adapters in the top of this box:  I got them from "The Porsche Shop" on this page: http://www.porscheshop.co.uk/acatalog/p ... nents.html If I'm honest, after receiving them the price is pretty steep for what is essentially 2 blocks of ally with some thread tapped into them. You'd be better off working out the measurements and making your own. |

You have to shop around. Ive found some Porscheshop prices to be good. For other bits they charge like a rampant, wounded rhinoceros. |
