Im considering having my 944 Turbo(220) tuned and maybe chipped, is there someone in the Northwest that is good with 944's and upgrades?

Baz at Hartech is very knowledgeable. The only guy who I know locally that deals much with turbos is Kevin at Classic car workshop in Coppull but that's 911s. Cath Burrows at Standish has done a lot on my S2 as has Kevin. As far as I know the simplest thing is RPM chip and and wind up the wastegate.
It's a slippery slope just check out some of the posts on here.
Looks better after I had sills done.

Thanks for the reply, I've used Cath Burrows for a few jobs but she doesn't have a rolling road and i assumed that was a must for set up, i know of Hartech but never been there do they have a rolling road?

How do you mean slippery slope? are you saying its two steps then bang boom and engine rebuild?

I was under the impression the 220bhp upgrade to to 270 was an easy step, (but I do tend to simplify things)

Far from it regarding the engine going bang. I would say however that 270BHP is optimistic. 250-260 IMO is more like what a 220 will make after being chipped. That however will make it way more exciting and reduce turbo lag if using a boost profiler IMO :).

To put it into perspective my chipped 250 made 283BHP. Admitedly the air filter was very dirty but it did have a very free flowing Wortec exhaust, a Lindsey Racing Stage 1 intercooler, Bailey DV30 valve and boosting at 1 Bar :).

He was referring to it being a slippery slope as to you wanting more power! From simply getting a Stage 1 kit with a boost profiler, uprated fuel regulator, chip and possibly a piston type recirculation valve (or a 993 Turbo item seems to work) that can be a stepping stone to something else, including a dual port wastegate from Tial, larger injectors, MAF conversions (or Tom Barker's ECU setup) and that is before you start going towards fancier headgaskets etc. as you start becoming a number chaser :).

The 944 (or at least one on a sorted chassis) will happily swallow power upgrades IMO.

So is the recommended starting point to upgrade the chip or should i be looking at exhaust and induction first?

I really want to just start off slow and feel the benefit from the upgrades, I've had plenty older cars and ran through many mods of bigger valves flowed and ported heads, fast cams and over sized carbs but always found going to far makes the car not pleasant to drive on a day to day basis's and just bimbiling around.

I do know my exhaust is getting on a bit and has a little rattle at falling revs so assuming i will have to change that soon.

All advice gracefully received.

You probably won't notice much difference changing the air filter as a single modification. I'd do it the same time as the chips which will certainly make the car a bit more lively and then the exhaust.
