Post subject:  advice on gearbox oil leak

Ive gunked the outer casing of the gearbox to try and determine the source of leak. Looks like 2 places. Out of a 'D' shaped hole at bottom of casing where the front bolts on and another from the drive shaft entering the box. Whats best to do?

Hi, the leaks from the driveshaft hubs are relatively easy to fix, there is a simple square profile 0 ring type seal that sits in a groove machined in the housing. However, to get to them you will have to remove both driveshafts and then unbolt the drive hub flange from the gearbox, then pull them out. The seals can then be replaced. The part number for the seal is a standard VW/Audi PN, so don't buy the Porsche one as the VW/Audi one is much cheaper and exactly the same...cos' who made the box in the first place?

Radial shaft seal 016 409 399B - this should be the part, but always check yours before buying

The front leak is a different matter, my guess is the input shaft seal. I have never replaced one of those, so cannot advise. Perhaps someone else can offer up some help here..?
