Winter has taken its toll on my 944 s2 battery any recommends, I was looking at one with free delivery from cp4less a bosch 65 quid after discount code.

I would like the advice from you guys.

Should I still consider lead acid or maintenance free etc?

Regards

Mark

If it were me I would go with one of the following batteries from the ECP family:

- Bosch S3 and S4 Black and Blue top respectively
- Exide Premium battery.

Both are available in the 075 size. I personally prefer the latter despite it being a more 'budget' brand purely down to my experience with them ; they are tough and tend to kick out what they say on the packaging.

I would not touch a Bosch S5 battery however. I must have had 3 or 4 of them now in 2 cars with some of them going back under warranty. The last time it was a real struggle to get it changed since the terms and conditions have changed for when you can return the battery (i.e has it been drained super flat, did the alternator take the battery out etc.). In my case the charging system was fine.

I have got a Bosch S3 in my turbo and it can sit for 2 weeks and still start unaided. I did have one die after about 18 months however but ECP changed it over in 5 mins without any difficulty. Just took in the battery and filled out a form and walked out with a new one. That was only 3 or 4 months ago.

The battery in my Turbo is 7 or 8 years old, it's a fair weather car so it has had a few charges in quiet periods but it still seems good. Though it usually gets 40+ miles whenever I get the car out.
