Hi, had a small amount of coolant loss, a pint or so every couple of months, so today I pressure tested the cooling system to try and find a leak, small drip from the t/stat housing but a BIG leak from the radiator, too musc pressure when testing.. .DOH.
Anyone used these. . .

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/141308257391? ... EBIDX%3AIT

They are cheaper than anything I can find, Euro havnt got any stock, advanced rads havnt, but they can re-core mine, but don't no how much it will be or how long it will take, and these look very nice. . . . .

Had one in the 924 turbo (running 944 rad) for 18 months before I over pressurised it due to boost leak into the coolant system. The cores cracked where it joins the end tank as they ballooned under the strain of 1.5bar. Just bought another to replace it. Fast delivery. No customs on the first rad. Got stung on the second delivery!! Mine was via the Winner Racing listings rather than the Dutch version.

Thanx Lads, ran it all day today and NO LEAKS. . . but i think the writing is on the wall tp be honest. Typically, I have just booked a holiday, and a lads trip to Spa, so cash is tight this month, and i broke my landy playing in the snow a couple of weeks ago. . . .DOH !.
Why worry eh. . . . . .haha

Just went to fit the new rad this morning. They have changed the design of the end tanks and therefore will not fit without major adjustment with the rad end tanks or bodywork of the car. Not very happy right now!!

Big leak appears to be from the N/S, just about where the top hose goes in, but its where the tank is crimped to the core, think when I pressure tested it, I pumped a bit to hard and forced coolant past the seal where they meet, seem fine now, but will keep an eye on it. . . .cheers
Dave

Waylander, I havnt rang the lads you gave me the no for, BUT, I think I will probably use them when I replace it, I did fancy the aluminium version, but it looks like they arnt any good now due to the re-design of the end tanks. . . .BUGGER,
Dave

Email to China was responded to very quickly and I am being sent another rad, the same as the first therefore should bolt in perfectly. Good job I tried to fit it today as just within the return guarantee timing!!

Steve, can you expand on your hopefully-resolved problem? Will the change affect other 944/951 owners or is it a quirk of your hybrid front end?

I'm using 100% 944 radiator/FMIC/slam panel bodywork on my 924 turbo. So this end tank change will affect all 944 not just my car. I have flagged it up to the seller and despite translation limitations I think they know the new rad doesn't fit already. Hopefully a new one is on its way in the first design.

Am I right in thinking that the radiator on the left fits and the radiator on the right looks better but doesn't fit? I will save the picture and notarise it ready for when I buy one.

Steve

Just being super cautious as I have also had the WINNER 56MM ALUMINUM ALLOY RADIATOR PORSCHE 944 2.5L TURBO;S2 3.0L M/T 1985-1991 on Ebay favourited for some time as an eventual replacement.

We ARE talking about the same one here aren't we? I guess we have to wait until they first supply you a correct replacement and then hope they realise their mistake for the rest of us!

Thanks for flagging this up

Rob
