Tried to take my turbo out for a run but couldn't get it into gear. It felt like the clutch wouldn't disengage. Eventually I started it in gear with my foot on the brake and clutch, which freed it up. It drives great now with no slipping or grinding. Any advice? (other than drive it more oftern!)

Used to have that problem occasionally when not driving it enough, crap weather , other commitments etc. Also occasional sticking of the Handbrake (now leave the handbrake off & the car in gear)
I know its not ideal not using the car as much as possible (eg daily!) so I regularly give the Engine a start up & drive the car out of the garage onto the drive, use the brakes, handbrake, check/use all the electrics (still working ok?) + keep it hooked up to a Battery conditioner in the garage.
Just out of interest how long had your car been stood when you had the problem.

(Based on advice from JMG where its been serviced Annually since 2007)

Had a Pug 205 GTI that did the same. Its likely some types of plate just prone to stick.
