So I'm ready to order up all the parts for my 944 and have a couple of queries I'm hoping you guys
Can help me with.

The first is which timing and balance belts are you all running ,contitech, dayco or gates ?, I was gonna
Go with the contitech but have been reading some reviews and some of them not so good.

Secondly, front seal kits from ecp ,are they any good and is it a complete kit as I read that not all the front seal kits cover all the components, has anyone bought one of there kits ?

Any help would be great as I'm keen to get the parts ordered next week

Cheers

Two specialists I know of do not use ContiTech belts for the timing belt and will go with either Dayco or Gates. The balance belt does not seem to be an issue on these.

However, many people do run ContiTech without issues :).

Both of my Porsche ran Dayco and were fine :).

Give Jon at JMG a call ... He'll do you a great price on all the belts and seals you need. It might be worth looking at the can chain and slipper pad while you're there...

From his website..

Our main telephone number is 01202 488800, however we also have a more memorable number, which is 07000 996 911, feel free to use whichever one you prefer, however the 07000 number is charged at the same rate as a national call.

I was wondering if it was down to the fitment of the contitech and not the quality , I suppose any belt could cause issue's if not fitted or tensioned correctly?

I might give jmg a visit as there is quite a few parts I need and they are only a 30 minute drive away.
The only thing is I was trying to get a lot of the stuff through suppliers we use at work such as euros as I get excellent discount, upto 50% in some cases, but I won't scrimp on quality so if I need to go else where for some of the parts then I will.

Agreed, but I got all my stuff from Jon simply because he knows exactly what you need and he knows his 'stuff' too - a real one-stop-shop!

I used the guys at Promax for the same reason. This way you get all the right bits. Euro & others use weird part numbering systems & even with PET to hand I was still struggling with the list of bits. This was especially the case with mine as it was a 2.5N/A but a 87 so post face lift & with auto tensioner.

I use Gates belts sought from my local motor factors, these are exactly what Porsche will supply you at more than double the price.
