I am going to share my experience, so you don't make the mistake.

I purchased a gearbox from Steve strange/ Douglas valley at the weekend via Ebay.
I was sent an "item dispatched" note Monday, delivery date Tuesday or Wednesday.

So, as I am keen to fit it, I took Tues and Wednesday off work, there is nobody home to receive the parcel otherwise, and its a bit big for a neighbour to take in.

As you can guess, it didn't come - so today (Thursday) I rang them to ask if it would be coming today...

No, its still in the car, "we always mark the item as dispatched, it doesn't mean its been dispatched, you should have phoned"

Well, im not sure why I would phone? how was I to know it wasn't coming when stated?
2 days of waiting in for no reason, I do not think this is acceptable.

I have had many many parts from DV, and not had an issue, maybe they are better for small items.

The problem with these systems is they are only as good as the person using them.
If its marked as dispatched then that's what I'd expect too.

Had a similar thing recently. Item arrived but missing a vital function that was mentioned in the ad title. When questioned they put things in the title to increase its search pickups! They did refund wihtout issue mind.

I'd deal with this by never, ever dealing with that bunch of utter tools ever again.

Not a great way to spend a couple of days granted but I myself would have wanted a guaranteed delivery date before taking time off work and staying at home. I agree it's fair to have expected the item was in transit though. Issue a despatch note.. Well when it's left them is what should happen.

I've used DV several times this year. Found them to be absolutely brilliant. Their feedback is overall v good on eBay so they can't be that bad.

Some of the prices are pure comedy for 25 year old mechanical bits.

Sometimes you don't have a choice, especially if one is sticking to a very rare gearbox :).

However, DV or not, marking dispatched to me (and it is how I sell stuff) means that generally speaking I have sent it. Like others I would be tempted to complain to eBay in this instance. It is the only way these peeps may take some notice after all, if any :).

The trouble with ebay these days it's incredibly difficult to leave someone bad feedback.

I guess It's hard to be perfect all the time :?

I have to say I have always found them very easy to deal with, and parts have always been good quality

Seems clear enough. Perhaps we could club together and send DV a dictionary as a Christmas present?
