I am having the clutch replaced on my 87 944 lux and it turns out that the starter ring gear is somewhat worn. I am looking for a new, or second hand one in good condition - can anyone help. Porsche are non comittal about whether they have / can supply one. I have found a couple on ebay in the states which seem OK but my car is on the ramp in bits in my local garage and I need one as soon as possible.

Also, while the gearbox is off, it would make sense to replace the fuel line as it is somewhat corroded above the back axle. Any ideas where I can get a replacement kit at a reasonable cost. How many pieces does it come in and how much should I expect to pay.

All advice appreciated.

Thanks. Steve

Best way with the lines is to use Pirtek or similar flexi & jus replace what is needed with flared joints. Or use standard olives & plumbing bits.
Mine had been done with high pressure hose & jubilee clips. Never gave any trouble.

Hi with the fuel lines i removed the two offending lines from midway under the vehicle, cutting the sound pipework with a pipe cutter for a clean finish.
make sure you stagger the cuts.

Disconnecting at the flexi pipes at the other end the patterns were then taken to pirtek and they produced me two lines with all the fittings required, I asked them to be made 30cm longer than the pattern supplied to allow re-routing slightly.

The hoses are teflon overbraided hoses.

The guys supplied me with a compression fitting in stainless for connection under the car.

I bought 4 new clamps from the opc to clamp all back into place.

cost about 180 GBP.

Saves on dropping the rear beam which you will need to do to fit oe lines.

regards

Mark
