For the first time, Clark’s Garage has failed me. The website says nothing about the electrics in the front seats.

One of the two adjustment switches on my sports seats on the driver’s side has stopped working. The one that moves the support in the seat back. I’ve had the switches off and checked the wiring, all seems fine at that end so I suspect either the motor or a break in the wire further along.

So what do I do next? Where are the motors hidden? Will I need to actually take the whole seat out before I can get at anything?

Is the motor turning or not (you know the noise). If not then swop the switches and that will tell you if it's a switch or a motor. If the motor's turning it could be one of the drive shafts that has come out. I've just had both of my seats out, dismantled and put back in, all in a few hours today - so it's not that hard. Slide the seat forward and there are four allen bolts - take them out. Slide the seat backwards and there are two allen bolts - take them out. Tilt the chair backwards and disconnect the two wiring plugs underneath, one for the seat belt light and one for the motors. Lift the seat out, turn it over, and there's the motors. Good luck with it.

That’s pretty comprehensive, cheers!

No motor noise, so I reckon it’s a connection somewhere. As I say, the switch seems fine (took it out and played with a battery and circuit testing bulb).

Looks like I’m just going to have to put aside an afternoon next weekend to take the seat out and follow the wires.
