Hi everyone. Just wondering if there are any good suppliers of used 944 parts in the London/South East area? Need a part to stop my driver's side windscreen wiper falling off and I don't know the technical term for "the nylon thing that's worn away", or even if it is available separately. Figured I could drive over and point to it (if the rain stops for long enough!).

Easiest way is to phone an OPC & buy a new one, I presume you mean part of the plastic linkage?

It's a common part that wears out and the ball from the wiper arm can no longer stay in the nylon cup. Once you've identified which part has worn from the parts list you will be happy to hear they are very cheap from the OPC. IIRC the short arm is under a tenner and the entire assembly frame is about £70

Excellent news thank you! And thank you for the parts catalogue link - that'll make life a lot easier :D

The parts catalogue is a godsend. Every 944 I’ve bought has come with a handshake from the previous owner and a passing-on of the parts catalogue on CD! Very sweet actually.

There’s another option with this sort of thing. You can phone Porsch-apart and chat to them about what thingy-connected-to-the-wotsit that you need. They’re pretty used to helping folk out without knowing part numbers, and have a good stock of all those wee fiddly bits. You’re buying salvaged parts from scrap cars, but the quality control there is good (they wouldn’t sell you a part that’s already worn) and you save a couple of quid.

Not sure I'd risk the pain of a secondhand one of these TBH Tony, it's an age thing that knackers them.

OPC Tonbridge are on 01732 361222 ask for John Hoskins & say Jim from TIPEC sent you. TIPEC members get at least 10% & he'll post bits out.

Thanks for all the help and the numbers. Definitely want to join your gang so will sort out membership and then give Tonbridge a ring.

BTW poprock is that your plate on the avatar? If so I think our cars are related!

Fair point. I find them good guys for a quick game of “what’s this bit called?”, regardless.

Nope, that’s the cover from the latest issue of our club magazine. It’s Paul Harrison’s car (starboard147 on here, I think—he’s the TIPEC Regional Organiser for Bristol).

Numberplate aside though, it does look a lot like mine!

Hi Jim

Excellent link. I found the parts catalog for my '91 cabby on there which I've now downloaded.

Can you recommend any other 944 sites which contain 'how to' guides and forums (obviously it will be hard to find a forum better than this one, but you never know).
