Hi everybody, assistance required. The engine oil cooler has an external leak and making a mess of the undertray on my S. I had a quick look at the workshop manual which goes on about shimming the cooler to body. Is this actually necessary or do I refit what I have taken out? I think I know the answer but am hoping I am wrong! |

If the 944S oil cooler is anything like the early 944 one, the shims may be required when re-assembling the cooler in order to get a flush fit to the block. Everything I know about this item I learnt from here: http://www.clarks-garage.com/shop-manual/lube-01.htm BTW the oil cooler is a horrible item to have to remove. Exhaust headers, steering shaft, and engine mount are in the way! |

Thought as much. I don't want to do it but have put it off for the last 9 months and is costing a fortune in brake cleaner washing it down! |

one of the hardest job I have done on my 968 took me all day but did it without removing anything but the power steering pump, and the arb support |
