Post subject:  Uprated brake disks
Has anyone got drilled / grooved brake discs on their 944?

My standard ones (on the rear) were advised on the last mot so im looking to replace them. Given the amout of miles im clocking up on the motorway and the lack of airbags I was wondering about getting better disks.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

Would it be sensible to have an equal standard of disk on the fronts aswell?

Just put standard ones on uless you're doing track work, especially just rear disks.

Stopping distance is based upon the tyre/road interface, nothing to do with brakes as long as they are operating properly obviously. Better quality and/or larger brakes will give you repeated performance over several stops ie more resistant to and dissipate heat quicker.

For motorway use my suggestion would be to look further ahead and maintain space around you, easier said than done at times I know but it is possible and essential if you want to avoid trouble. Don't rely on brakes or airbags to save your life!

Got an old parachute from my paragliding days you could have.
Never deployed in anger - so don't know if it works though ! Paul

That suits me fine. Im a driving miss daisy anyway!

Will just get standard disks. Any particular brand of pads which I should avoid?

i avoid all ebc pads, i have destroyed all of them in a few laps, and even road blasts, i now use PFC but you have to warm them up.
for normal road driving stick to a good OE brand like mintex or ferodo, and i know what you mean about motorway driving, you leave a safe gap and people just pull out into it!
need a on car bazooka :lol:

Pagid discs and pads are good quality. Try Euro Car Parts.

Yes, I've used Pagid disks and pads from Eurocarparts on our Subaru several times they are very good quality, last well and reasonably priced.
