I want to do a coolant change on my 944 S2, just wondering what type / spec people recommend I use (looks like it's got blue in it at the moment).

I've read that due to the alloy engine construction the coolant needs to be phosphate free?

Cheers in advance!

The vast majority of antifreeze out there for sale is Phosphate free due to British Standard regulations.

However, if your car has blue coolant in (I shall assume here that the coolant has a 2 year life and is IAT basd) I would buy some Glytasyn G48.

I would stray away for anything cheapish though ; in a couple of cars in which I have used Unipart CoolBlue I have come to question its anti-corrosion when I come to change the coolant in a year or two's time from when I put it in ; I have never had that issue with good and genuine stealer coolants, with them being left in for quite a bit longer.

You could use red longlife antifreeze (like Glytasyn G40 or other long life coolants) but this would require you to fully flush out the engine of the older coolant :).

Thanks for the info - much appreciated :-)

I've just looked up the invoice for the last time the coolant was changed (by the previous owner) and Millers Blue (see link below) was used.

I'm assuming that this is phosphate free?
