Hello all,

I'm a rare poster here, but would appreciate anyone's thoughts on the below.

I have an '89 S2 and both front wings are in need of attention. I took it to a local bodyshop at the weekend and he advised me that I'd be best to replace the wings rather than have them mended as the damage was such that they wouldn't be strong enough and that they would just rot again fairly soon.

I made a couple of calls to breakers yesterday and it was suggested to me that I should do what I can to keep the original wings and that I should look to having them repaired.

So, below are a few pictures I've taken. More than happy to post up more from different angles if that would be of any help.

Thanks!

David

(Couldn't think of another way of posting the images to have dusted off the olde Google+ account...)

If that is the only rot, BIG IF, then I would get them repaired. A decent bodyshop should repair them & with proper sealing & primer won't rot again. Sounds like your guy either can't do it or doesn't want to.

From those photos, repair must be the starting point if the rust / rot is just at the bottom like that. Should be a reasonably straightforward job for a competent shop.

Stevenage might be a bit far from Lewisham but http://www.daytonacoachworx.co.uk/ have done lots of 944's and would be able to give you good advice.

Thanks all, much appreciated.

Kind of confirming my view - I'll look to get them repaired in the first instance and take it from there.

Thanks again - no better place to come for an objective view than the pages of Tipec.

Are based in Lewisham? My go live in New Cross and and I have a sliver turbo you may have seen it around. I could take a look see what's up. Iv got new wings on mine so I know what they should look like. As south London maybe be worth trying some places in Kent will most likely be cheaper.

Thanks all.

Matey, I'm almost certain that would fix it so that's reassuring. Ta.

Jack, fine work. I'm too much of a knuckle dragger to even consider doing it myself. I wouldn't set an unsupervised apprentice on her.

t3rra. Sounds like a plan. I'll send you a pm.

Thanks, Jim - sounds promising (and fairly close to where I am).

I'll give them a bell.
