Hi guys.

Probably been asked before but I need to sort out my leaking sunroof ASAP. It's getting worse every day and of course our English weather is getting worse. I assume it's the outer seal that's perished. The inner seal I replaced already as a replacement came with the car. I've done some research and it seems like people have found some lower cost alternatives but this was a few years ago and the ebay links are no longer there anymore.

any help much appreciated. Thanks

First things:

1. Are the drain hole clears?
2. When you changed the inner seal did you put it on the right way around (yes there is a right way!)

Generally as long as your drain holes are clear and you put the inner seal on properly you should be fine, they can be a sod to sort, first i'd try a bead of sealant around the outer edge of the inner seal and make sure the drain holes are clear.

I will have a look tomorrow and take some pictures. What is the correct way? I did put a piece of wire into the drain holes. It went right through but I couldn't actually see where it led..

you should not use wire for the drains as they can be a bit soft and you can puncture them, I always use strimmer line

i think its the longer edge to the inside for the inner sunroof seal

There are so many reasons for leaks

Pour some water into each drain hole and see if water exits at a decent trickle under the car.
That will show they are clear.
However, even when clear, the tube by now will be hard a possible brittle, they can leak at some point along the length of the drain tube.

If the water does not drain quickly enough, it can rise up under the inner sunroof seal and into the car that way.

Another problem is water coming in through the rear qtr window seal, it soaks into the material from the rear interior panels that goes over the window frame and wicks into the car along the panel, normally turning into mush.

Lift up the rear carpet , throw away the saturated sound proofing and keep the carpet up. dry it out.

In the mean time, why not get something like this
