As the title really, my car has been off the road a while and yesterday on a quick test drive to check my brakes the pump was very noisy, almost like knacked tappetts. To the point where I thought I had engine troubles  I filled up with £20 as I was low and the noise went away hence why I'm thinking pump but it was deffinately coming from the engine side.
Just wondering if this is normal and if not what needs changing?

This really is turning into a labour of love.... Well kind of!

If you were very ow on fuel then the pump will be noisy. They are cooled by fuel so get unhappy with a low level. It could also be a sign the pump is on the way out, it is around 24+ years old you know!

Fuel pump bobbin shot? being rubber they perish. Damping isnt as good, or could have collapsed and is letting the fuel pump touch the body, then it will be noisy. thats what my money is on.
